Driver Ejected In Crash With Mercedes Fleeing From Hit-Run In Maryland, Police Say

A hit-and-run driver didn't make it far after striking a Mercedes-Benz and suffered life-threatening injuries after being ejected from his Nissan attempting to flee the crash scene in Maryland, police say.

First responders in Montgomery County were called shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 1 to the area of Montgomery Village Avenue and Shadow Oak Drive, where there were two reported crashes, which left one driver with critical injuries.

According to police, a black 2011 Nissan Murano was traveling southbound on Montgomery Village Avenue and Shadow Oak Drive in Montgomery Village when it struck with a Mercedes-Benz and left the scene. 

The Nissan continued traveling southbound on Montgomery Village Avenue when, for reasons still under investigation a day later, left the roadway, struck a pole and rolled into a construction site, where the driver was ejected.

Police say that the Nissan driver was rushed to an area hospital by Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel with life-threatening injuries, though the occupants of the Mercedes were uninjured.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing. More information is expected to be released. Check Daily Voice for updates.
